#1 Truecaller

What's it all about:

Functionality:

If you have ever received a call from an unknown number this app is for you. 

Truecaller uses it's global phone directory to store names and numbers. Once you register on the application it uploads the names and numbers in your phones contact list onto it's data base for other users to look up (The app is safe and doesn't make your phone-book available to the public). It also has call-blocking functionality where you can block calls from a certain number. Social media integration keeps your phone-book up to date with birthdays and photos 

This is a practical application as it  brings up numbers you may not have stored on your phone. It also brings up numbers from telemarketers which is quite handy, so you know who's calling before answering blindly and getting talked into purchasing something you don't want. You can also mark numbers as spam so when another user gets a call from that number they will be warned before hand.

#2 Swiftkey

What's it all about:

• Flow - Sliding finger to write
• Swiftkey Cloud - Allows users to backup and sync their language behaviour

Functionality:

One of the best keyboards out there it.

It quickly gets used to your language style. It remembers the words you use most often and adds words or names that other keyboards would auto correct every single time to it's dictionary. Swiftkey feels like it tunes into your personal style and makes texting so much quicker and easier. Flow allows the user to swipe through the letters on the keyboard instead of typing, and it predicts the best possible word with that combination of letters and it is almost always accurate. 

Swiftkey Cloud stores a backup of your language behaviour, which I found to be very useful when I installed Swiftkey on a new device. I didn't have to go through the first few days of the keyboard getting used to me, it immediately picked up from where I left off on my previous phone. It also has many pretty themes that you can purchase or use. Supporting over 60 languages you can use it in English or Afrikaans but it doesn't support the remaining 5 official South African languages as yet.

#3 AVG Cleaner & Battery Saver 

What's it all about:

Functionality:

This application assists in cleaning up your phone without having to go through your settings for hours trying to figure out what to clear or delete. AVG CBS clears unwanted cache  running in the background, clears history that is long forgotten and is taking up space like old call logs and files taking up more than 5MB of space in one go. 

App Manger lets you view your apps and remove them easily, it also alerts you to rarely used apps that you may want to get rid of. It can stop apps from running in the background which are draining your battery. The battery savers helps you to see which apps are using the battery and makes it easy to close.

#4 Zomato

What's it all about:

• Finding restaurants quickly
• Menus
• Reviews 
• Find places to eat nearby with map feature  

Functionality:

Zomato makes finding a place to eat very simple. The app has a list of categories that you can search through such as cuisines, breakfast, lunch or supper and even has collections that include a list of Halaal restaurants or Home Delivery restaurants to mention a few.

This app is packed with useful information, I like trying out new restaurants but I am always weary of what's on the menu and if they cater to everyone's preferences. With Zomato you can look up most menus from different restaurants making it easier to decide on a place to eat.

You can also find reviews and ratings on restaurants, from patrons who have either had a great time or a horrible experience. If you find yourself in a different part of town with a grumbling tummy and don't know where to get a bite to eat you can use Zomato to help locate an eatery. You can also check into places you've been to and give your own review.

#5 Cloud Magic

What's it all about:

• Supports all major e-mail servers 
• Multiple e-mail accounts in one  
• Low Battery use 
• Notifications on all e-mails 

Functionality:

This app brings all your e-mails together in one simple application. I have a few e-mails for different uses. The standard e-mail application that comes with devices doesn't make it easy to access multiple e-mails.With Cloud Magic you can register different e-mails from different domains in one place. This makes it simple to navigate between all your e-mails without having to open too many apps.

It doesn't drain your devices battery and sends out push notifications on all e-mails, I  also like the simplistic yet colourful interface on Cloud Magic.
